UK Dinghy Racing

Amongst many dinghy racing links and articles, this site has a free classified adverts section which is worth investigating.

Speed Sails

Speed Sails are sailmakers & chandlers for all racing dinghies based in Aldridge. Note: They've moved to new premises and have joined with Purple Marine. Although they no longer have a shop, they will order things for you to try there with no obligation to purchase.

Purple Marine

Link to Purple Marine, Purveyors of stuff since 1996 AD.

Noble Marine Insurance

If you sail your own boat at Midland SC you must have insurance. And Noble provide excellent service. For example, claim for a bent mast went in on Tuesday, new mast was ready for collection on Thursday and all the paperwork sorted.

Good selection of wetsuits and accessories with the advantage that you can try them on in the shop.

Birmingham Canoe Club

Birmingham Canoe Club was established over 50 years ago. The club is very active and is supported by a dedicated membership who organise regular trips to various different venues in the UK and Europe. We have a number of coaches on hand to give instruction and guidance where necessary to help paddlers progress their skills. The Canoe Club use the reservoir for training on Friday evenings during the summer through an association with Birmingham Rowing Club.

The Sea Cadets - Birmingham Vernon

Birmingham Vernon is part of a National Organisation known as The Marine Society and Sea Cadets, however we operate a local level and are a charity within our own right. We meet three times a week at our headquarters at Edgbaston Reservoir and only charge £1.00 each time a young person attends. The facilities are available to both boys and girls between the ages of 10 - 18 years. The unit provides young people the opportunity to gain instruction and Nationally recognised qualifications in many areas such as sailing, canoeing, rowing, sail boarding, power boating, band, first aid, camping, football and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme but to name a few. At Vernon we are lucky enough to be able to offer to young people the opportunity to follow either The Royal Navy or The Royal Marines with staff and training programmes for both sections.

Birmingham City Council - Edgbaston Reservoir

Situated close to the city centre, Edgbaston Reservoir is a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation. It was built in 1827 by Thomas Telford as a op upfor Birmingham canal system and is still used for that purpose today. The 70 acres site is mainly open water and supports a variety of birdlife; it is also a valuable city site for animals such as newts and bats. A belt of woodland and grassland encircles the reservoir providing an oasis of natural beauty in an urban setting.

Edgbaston Watersports

Just next door, Jacquie and Martin Dutton at Edgaston Watersports run a wide range of activities both on and off the water.

Edgbaston Reservoir on Facebook

Jan Tween of the Friends of Edgbaston Reservoir has created a Facebook page for the rezzer.
