The Midland Fleets
We welcome just about all dinghy classes to sail with us, from Oppies for the smallest juniors, through to Fireballs and beyond for the largest and most competitive sailors. While the fleets are primarily to enable fair racing between the different classes, we still find time for just messing about on the water on a lazy sunday - no matter what the weather.
The Racing Fleets
We currently have five active racing fleets, which not only compete amongst themselves but using a handicap system also compete against each other in our regular race series which run all year round.
|Enterprise||A two-handed dinghy with blue sails that make it stand out on the water
|GP14||An all-purpose two-handed racing dingy that also makes a good family cruising boat.|
|Merlin Rocket||We've always had a strong following for the Merlin Rocket and the fleet is still very competitive too. A two-handed boat that is one of the more technical classes and ideally suited to our waters.|
|Solo||Our main single-handed racing class, Solo's have proven to be very popular in recent years and a very competitive fleet.
|Menagerie||All other boats that qualify for racing sailing. Currently this includes various Lasers, Phantom, Fireball, National 12, Europe, Moth, RS Feva and a selection of other classes.|
The Junior Fleet
While the youngest Juniors sail in Optimists, which were purpose designed for smaller children, the Junior Fleet also use other classes such as the Topper and RS Feva that are used for adult training and racing.
And the older members also race in Enterprise, GP14 as well as crewing in Merlin Rockets and have taken honours at club and regional events.
The Training Fleet
For training courses the club has a selection of different classes of dingies, and new members will be taught to sail all of them during the courses. For more information, see the Training section.
|Topper||RS Feva||Laser 2000||RS Vision|

The Leisure Fleet
Usually found enjoying lazy summer sunday afternoons, we have a couple of Mirrors, a Kittiwake and collection of other boats who's owners no longer feel the need to prove themselves in the racing fleet. Any dinghy is welcome to come and join us for leisure sailing.
And to ensure the safety of everyone out on the water, the club as two Safety Boats - Sue and Joan - that are crewed by qualified members and overseen by the Race Office or a Senior Instructor as appropriate.
