Other Classes
In addition to the 3 main fleets, several other classes are sailed at Midland Sailing Club. We welcome any monohull dinghy with a Portsmouth Yardstick of between 982 and 1155. The Club’s policy of running all our races on a pursuit basis (with slower boats starting earlier) gives every class of boat the opportunity to compete with the others.
Classes sailed at Midland include:
- Optimist www.optimistsailing.org.uk
- the Club owns 2, which are used for training youngsters.
- Topper www.gbrtopper.co.uk
- the Club owns 6 of these, which are used primarily for training. They may also be hired by competent sailors for racing, or practice.
- RS Feva www.rs-association.com
- the Club owns 3 Fevas, which are used for training, and may be hired by competent sailors for racing, or practice. There are a further 2 Fevas owned by Club members, which are raced regularly.
- Mirror www.ukmirrorsailing.com
- a popular small dinghy for two people. Instantly recognisable by its red sails. We have one at the Club at present.
The Solo fleet at MSc has now grown to 5 providing more competition and fun. Come and join MSC's fastest growing fleet with a super midland region circuit for those keen on Open Meetings. All skill levels welcome! This single-hander is well suited to our sailing water, and gives the opportunity for the sailor without a regular crew to race competitively in our pursuit racing.
