Merlin Rocket Class
The Merlin Rocket fleet was established at Midland in the early 1950s, at the time when Les Brain and Peter Easton sailed at the Club – they were twice National Champions.
Merlin
Rockets have been sailed at Midland for 50 years and there is still
good competition within the fleet. Members own a variety of
competitive designs, including Canterbury Tales, Thin Ice and NSM2s.
Midland Sailing Club is the centre of the Merlin Rocket Midland Circuit – a series of open meetings held each year at clubs within 50 miles of Midland – and this is well supported by sailors from our Club. Club members are also active on the national Silver Tiller circuit and at the class National Championships and Inland Championships.
We welcome new Merlin Rockets to Midland Sailing Club – and new sailors to the Merlin Rocket class. Our sailors have considerable experience in the class and are always willing to give advice and assistance to newcomers.
Our Merlin Rocket open meeting will take place on Sunday 15th May 2005 – first race at 11.00 a.m.
