About Midland Sailing Club

We hold club sailing every Saturday afternoon throughout the year. Between April and October we also sail on Wednesday evenings and hold regular ‘Family Fun Sailing’ Sundays.

We sail the following classes of dinghy: Merlin Rockets, Enterprises, GP14s, Solos, Fevas, Toppers and a menagerie class includes a Fireball, Mirrors and Lasers.

Our galley provides refreshments during sailing and the bar is open afterwards and on Wednesday evenings all through the year. We also hold many excellent social events, including barbecues and our famous Pirate Day.

We are an accredited RYA training centre, offering courses to get you afloat and sailing, refresh your skills if you have sailed before, and introduce you to racing. Please see elsewhere on the website. We have a vibrant and enthusiastic Junior Fleet. If you are over 7 years old come along at 10.30 on Saturday mornings with a change of clothing! Be warned Mums, Dads and carers are expected to stay to help...and maybe even have fun sailing too!

The Club has some boats that are available for members to hire. We have a fleet of Optimists (for younger sailors), Toppers (single-handed boats for all ages) and Fevas (that offer exciting sailing for beginners and those with more experience).

You may already have a boat or be thinking of buying one. Our members are always willing to offer advice and guidance. We can provide storage for members’ boats, including indoor storage subject to availability.

We are a competitive club travelling around the country to other clubs to compete in Open Meetings and we also host these events. Every September a group of club members travels to Southport to compete in the 24 hour race. A drinking and sailing weekend!
