Barbara Hopton wanted to present the club with something it needed in memory of her Husband John. We are very grateful to her for agreeing to donate a new weather station.
John was a member from 1952 to 2006 and was commodore from 1966 to 1968. It was under his stewardship that our current club house was built, replacing the previous timber clad club house built in the 1930s.
The flagpole has been refurbished and has now been raised with the new anemometer on top. A rain gauge and thermometer have been mounted on the clubhouse roof and all information will be sent by a radio signal to a console in the bar area. Once we have a 24 hour supply of electricity, data will be downloaded and recorded on a regular basis and we hope soon may be available on our website.
