Merlins at MSC — in the 60s
Ian Willetts sent us this picture of his mother and father, Pearl and Alan Willetts, sailing Merlin 722 at MSC in the early 1960s. He went on to say:
My father sailed at MSC for 40 plus years (subsequently sailed 1447 Wozzo) which I crewed frequently until the early 2000s — he was proud of his scratch handicap tie. The two of us did sail 522 a couple of times at MSC in the late 1980s for Les Brain to 'keep the cobwebs off it'. My father used to tell me that Peter Easton could win 'sailing an orange box'!!!!!!!
Dad won an Open at Bala & Falmouth with 722 (rather than 1447). On his death 1447 was sold on (don't know where she is now, but I think she originally came from Hollingsworth to MSC).
