Enterprises at Midland SC

In the first race Richard Adams crewed by Brother James (Midland SC) lead from start to finish. Behind the racing was very close with Nigel Allso crewed by Kate Brazier (Tamworth sc), Martin and Laurence Davies (Rugby and Daventry SC) and Steve Graham crewed by Julie Moore (Northampton SC) having some good battles. At the finish Nigel and Kate were second with Steve and Julie third.

After lunch the second race took place on a new course, with Steve and Julie getting the best start with many boats tacking onto port towards the centre of the course. Richard and James in a rare mistake capsized during this tack, which put them back for a while.

Nigel and Kate rounded the windward mark first, after an incident left Mike Cossey crewed by Christine Barron (Tamworth SC) doing a 720 turn. Martin Bottomley crewed by Siobhan Pearson (Emberton Park SC/Midland SC) were second for a while until more place changing meant Martin and Laurence won, Nigel and Kate were second and Steve and Julie third. This left the event wide open for an exciting third race.

The third race on another new course saw Richard and James attempt a port tack start from the pin end, which failed leaving Jonathan Woodward crewed by Mike Cossey (Redditch SC) to lead on the first beat, only to be passed downwind by Richard Adams. However both went round the leeward mark the wrong way letting Steve Graham into the lead which he held for another two laps. Richard Adams and Jonathan Woodward overtook at the windward mark; following this some very close racing ensued. First again was Richard Adams; second Steve Graham and third Martin Davies.
